Jon's wrap up

Well, as is tradition, I present a tiny wrap of the show in Geneva.

First off: it was a blast - we had a great time! Second: we were praised for our professionalism and presentation. Incredible amounts of people filed through the exhibit hall and nightly we had little wine and cheese with a few of the other artists in our area. I had some wonderful conversations with folks visiting the show and several of the talented people I got to know. Unfortunately the rules of the show forbade us from taking pictures and presenting the typical wrap up and so the few really brilliant artist present will go mostly unmentioned.

Francis Willm
Outstanding in this regard was Strasbourg artist FrancisWillm. His inventive energetic work fit his lively gregarious personality. Check him out at www.franciswillm.com.

Ernesto Ricou
Definitely the highlight of the show was getting to know Portuguese ex-pat Ernesto Ricou. He is the founder of the Museum of Immigration, Tivoli 14, 1007 Lausanne, 021 648 26 67 or 021 311 58 27. In Lausanne he teaches art and exhibits when he can. He was recently the official Art Europe artist of Portugal through an embassy culture prize. His sense of humor, wisdom, and obvious zest for life proved infectious and we found it difficult to say good bye each night as we raved on and on.

A few more to check out Monique Vergnieux Sandieux and Aurelia Imgrüt.

The 52nd International Art Exhibition (June 10 - November 21, 2007) is curated by Robert Storr, the first director from the United States in the history of the most famous art review in the world. The main international exhibition, set up in the Arsenale Corderie and Artiglierie and in the Padiglione Italia at the Giardini, presents about a hundred artists from all over the world.
The international landscape is enriched by the exhibitions of 76 countries (a record number set by this edition) displaying works in the historical city centre.
Since 2006, the Arsenale has been the permanent seat of the new Italian Pavilion, making its debut this year with an exhibition curated by Ida Giannelli and representing one of the main novelties in the 52nd Exhibition.
